The Reader – Whispers of Wings

Amo leggere. Ma non solo con gli occhi. Amo leggere con l’anima.

When I work with clay, I lose myself in the same stillness I find when I open a book and let the words carry me away.
In my studio, with my hands deep in the earth and the narrator's voice in the background, something magical happens: a world lights up inside me—made of pages, dreams, and fluttering butterflies.

This sculpture is the portrait of that moment.
Of me finding peace. Of me escaping.
Of the little girl I still am, who loves to sit quietly, breathe slowly, and be carried by a story.

Some sculptures tell a story. This one... reads.

Technical notes
decorated with engobes, ceramic glazes, and gold luster in the third firing.

It has undergone three firings, the third one for the application of pure gold decorations on the butterflies’ wings

The little face is as small as a hazelnut. The curls are applied one by one and are made of delicate clay strips rolled on themselves.

The leather is made of natural clay.
