The sculpture was modeled with a pinkish-toned clay without the application of ceramic enamels.
The girl's skin is left in natural clay, while the coloured parts have been decorated with white clays .
The face is as small as a hazelnut and modelled by hand. The curls are applied one at a time and are made of delicate strips of clay rolled up on themselves.
The sculpture is hollow.
The sculpture underwent one firing at 960°.

When I saw this sculpture for the first time, I instantly fell in love! I love reading and enjoy the whimsical touch “The Reader” has. When she got to my house, carefully and lovingly packaged. I was so excited to unwrap her and find her to be even more beautiful in person than on the website! Accompanied with the sculpture was a letter of authenticity, and also a letter of care that was closed with a beautiful clay leaf! “The Reader” will have a special place in my reading/prayer corner, and I will give her a beautiful name! Alice’s attention for detail is very profound and I am in love with her art.
I would love to visit her studio in Italy one day.
