Artistic ceramic sculpture

This sky-reader holds in her hands a book where whole worlds bloom.
Its pages curl like wings, and the words are ready to take flight.
She’s lost in her reading—but also in the air, in dreams, in freedom.
Her dress is made of sky, crossed by flocks of birds and brushed by the wind.
Butterflies, like light thoughts, flutter all around her.
And as she reads, she flies too—with her mind, her heart, her whole being.

Technical notes
The sculpture is hand-modelled in pink clay, decorated with engobes and glazes. 

The sculpture underwent two firings.

The little face is as small as a hazelnut. The curls are applied one by one and are made of delicate clay strips rolled on themselves.

The skin is left in natural clay, while the coloured parts have been painted with different hues of engobes (slips) in order to create delicate nuances and plays of colour.

I applied glossy and satin enamels
