My great love for the Renaissance led me to learn about and study the era and its greatest protagonists, special women who changed history.

One of them is Queen Elizabeth I of England, her story from childhood, starting with her mother Anne Boleyn, is compelling and incredible. She ruled her country for forty years, transforming it into a power. With his great intelligence and personality he won the esteem of the people and the respect of the nobles of the time. Her life was not easy and especially in the end determined by loneliness.

Technical notes:: The sculpture is hand-modelled in pink clay, decorated with engobes and glazes. It underwent two firings at 960 ° and 980 °.

They call me Elisabeth I, "The Virgin" My mother was dethroned, beheaded and I went through my youth trying to avoid the same fate. I developed a ruthless instinct for survival, I fought against a world of men unable to grant me the same respect as the one due to a king.
I refused an arranged marriage and to give heirs to the throne as a condition to be The Queen of England. Over the centuries I became well known worldwide, wore dazzling clothes to show the world my indisputable power, hid my weakness under a mask of face powder and a crown of fire and pearls.
At the end of my life, I turned my country into a world power and my people into a force to be reckoned with.

As a woman unable to fully be myself, I cry having given up everything. I look sad and my skin craves a loving touch.
My scream echoes throughout the centuries and is filled with anger and hope along with that of many other women. My dear sisters, do not give up being yourself! A society which compels its women to have an empty womb, is inhumane!
