Lightness Between the Lines captures the quiet lightness of someone who opens a book and allows the outside world to disappear for a little while.

She sits peacefully in her soft blue dress, with its romantic shape and gently ruffled edges. The pale decorative details make the fabric seem airy and delicate. In her hands, an open book becomes almost a doorway into a private world. Even the tiny flowers tucked into her pocket feel like a small secret she has chosen to carry with her.

Technical notes

The sculpture is hand-modeled with a pinkish-toned clay.
I applied glossy and satin enamels
The skin is left in natural clay, while the coloured parts have been painted with different hues of engobes (slips) in order to create delicate nuances and plays of colour.
The little face is as small as a hazelnut. The curls are applied one by one and are made of delicate clay strips rolled on themselves.
The tiny book, no bigger than a postage stamp, is hand-painted with care.
The sculpture underwent two firings at 980°
