Reader – Soul of Paper

She loves books because they know how to speak softly,
like the wind to the flowers and dawn to the morning sky.
Every page she turns is a gentle flight,
and the butterflies on her dress remind her of this:
reading means staying where you are
and still traveling far away.

Technical notes

The sculpture is hand-modeled with a pinkish-toned clay.
The girl’s skin remains in natural clay, while the colored details are enriched with engobes and ceramic glazes.
The tiny book, no bigger than a postage stamp, is hand-painted with care.
The sculpture underwent two firings at 980°
