Lullaby Among the Clouds

Lullaby Among the Clouds tells the story of that quiet, suspended moment when a mother cradles her baby and, for a little while, the rest of the world seems to disappear.

Held safely in her arms, the child rests within an embrace that becomes home, shelter and lullaby. The mother holds her baby with the gentle familiarity of a gesture repeated countless times, yet always unique.

Her wide blue dress seems to turn into a sky of its own. Soft clouds drift across it, while tiny birds appear to fly through the fabric like free thoughts accompanying the child towards sleep and the very first landscapes of dreams.

A small teddy bear peeks from her pocket, a tender and playful detail belonging to that childhood world made of affection, imagination and treasured little things.

This handmade ceramic sculpture speaks of motherhood without needing many words. It is about care, protection, patience and that extraordinary kind of love that knows how to hold someone close while slowly teaching them to fly.

Technical notes
The sculpture is hand-modeled with a pinkish-toned clay.
I applied glossy and satin enamels
The skin is left in natural clay, while the coloured parts have been painted with different hues of engobes (slips) in order to create delicate nuances and plays of colour.
The little face is as small as a hazelnut. The curls are applied one by one and are made of delicate clay strips rolled on themselves.
